A BILL FOR AN ACT ENTITLED: "AN ACT PROVIDING THAT TAX REVENUE COLLECTED BY A STATE AGENCY FOR A COUNTY TREASURER BE TRANSFERRED TO THE COUNTY ON A SAME-DAY BASIS."
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MONTANA:
NEW SECTION. Section 1. Assumption of county tax collection duties by state agency. If a state agency assumes the tax collection responsibility of a county treasurer with respect to collecting tax revenue previously collected by the county treasurer on behalf of the county, a school district, or other taxing jurisdiction in the county, the state agency shall electronically transfer the revenue to the county on a same-day basis or the state agency shall pay interest at the rate of 12% a year on the revenue collected to the county from the time of the agency's collection until the time that the actual transfer of the revenue to the county occurs.
NEW SECTION. Section 2. Codification instruction. [Section 1] is intended to be codified as an integral part of Title 7, chapter 6, part 21, and the provisions of Title 7, chapter 6, part 21, apply to [section 1].
