The Children, Families, Health, and Human Services Interim Committee will hold a conference call meeting at 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 to review a draft letter formally objecting to proposed administrative rules that would reduce provider reimbursement rates.

The committee has informally objected to four rules proposed by the Department of Public Health and Human Services. The rules would reduce provider rates for many services ranging from health care to mental health, developmental disability, and nursing home services.

The informal objection prevents the department from adopting the rate reductions for up to six months from the time the agency first proposed the rules, if the committee continues the objection each time it meets. A formal objection would delay the rules from going into effect until after the 2019 Legislature, unless the department changes the rules in a way that addresses the committee's concerns.

The meeting will be held in Room 102 of the Capitol in Helena, and will be live streamed at www.leg.mt.gov. Most committee members will be attending by phone.

Members of the public who are in attendance in Room 102 may offer public comment in person on the draft objection letter. Comment also may be submitted before the meeting by sending it via e-mail to Sue O'Connell, committee staffer, at soconnell@mt.gov or by mail at Legislative Services Division, P.O. Box 201706, Helena, MT 59620.
