The Transportation Interim Committee (TIC) meeting begins at 9 a.m. in Room 152 of the State Capitol. The committee is expected to adopt its work plan, which provides an outline of what the TIC will work on throughout the interim and how much effort will be placed on each subject.

During the September 16 meeting in Helena, the Department of Justice’s Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) also will provide an update on Montana’s compliance with the REAL ID Act. Federal agencies and the Transportation Security Administration will continue to accept valid Montana driver licenses and ID cards to board domestic commercial flights and access secure federal facilities until October 1, 2020. Beginning October 2020, only Montana licenses and ID cards that are REAL ID compliant will be accepted to board domestic commercial flights or enter secure federal facilities.

The committee also will hear about the state rail plan and receive an overview of autonomous vehicle laws in other states

In July, the TIC elected Gordon Vance, R-Belgrade, Presiding Officer; and Diane Sands, D-Missoula; Vice-Presiding Officer. Senate members appointed to the committee are Carlie Boland, D-Great Falls; Sands; Vance; and Jeff Welborn, R-Dillon. House members appointed to the committee are Ross Fitzgerald, R-Fairfield; Denley Loge, R-Saint Regis; Andrea Olsen, D-Missoula, and Mark Sweeney, D-Philipsburg.
