The Law and Justice Interim Committee (LJIC) will meet on May 29 via video conference. In the morning, the LJIC will hear from 4 national experts in pretrial decisionmaking and managing detention center populations.

In the afternoon, the LJIC will review draft bills for the HJ 31 study of the Board of Crime Control and the HJ 36 study of compensation for wrongfully convicted individuals. Time will be provided for public comment.

The meeting will start at 8 a.m. and be streamed live online at: https://leg.mt.gov/.

An agenda and other meeting materials are posted on the LJIC's website. Materials include instructions on how the public can offer comment during the meeting.

Written public comments are also accepted and encouraged. Written comments received by 12 p.m. (noon) on May 28 will be provided to the committee members in advance of the meetings. Written comments received after that time will be included in the committee's minutes log for the meeting.
