Montana State Legislature
Montana Medical Marijuana Act
State law specifically requires the Children and Families Committee to monitor the implementation of the Montana Medical Marijuana Act and to draft legislation if members believe changes to the law are necessary. Senate Bill 265 in 2019 made numerous changes to the law. The changes were phased in between May 2019 and June 2, 2020, when the last significant change from SB 265 went into effect. At that time, medical marijuana cardholders were allowed to buy marijuana or marijuana-infused products from any licensed provider. Before that, they were required to name a provider and purchase products only from that provider.
